BHUTAN TRAVEL ITINERARY
7 Days / 6 Nights Itinerary
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by our guide with a traditional khadar (white scarf) welcome ceremony.
Begin your drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s charming capital (approx. 1.5 hours), passing serene landscapes and rivers.
En route, stop at Tachogang Lhakhang Bridge, an ancient iron chain bridge steeped in history.
Arrive in Thimphu, check into your hotel, and relax.
In the evening, take a gentle walk through Thimphu’s main street to explore local shops and markets.
Enjoy a Welcome Dinner at a traditional Bhutanese restaurant with live cultural music or folk dances.
Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Start your day with breakfast at your hotel.
Visit the sacred Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in memory of the Third King.
Head to Buddha Dordenma, one of the largest sitting Buddha statues in the world, offering sweeping views of the valley.
Explore the Royal Textile Academy and the Folk Heritage Museum to learn about Bhutanese arts, crafts, and daily life.
Visit the Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s national animal, followed by lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, stop by the Craft Bazaar and Handicrafts Market for authentic souvenirs.
Optional visit to a local art school or monastery.
Dinner at the hotel or a recommended café.
Overnight stay in Thimphu.
After breakfast, depart for Punakha (approx. 3.5-hour drive).
Stop at the picturesque Dochula Pass (3,100m), where 108 memorial chortens stand in honor of fallen Bhutanese soldiers. On clear days, enjoy views of the Eastern Himalayas.
Descend into the subtropical Punakha Valley.
Visit Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Fertility Temple, built in honor of Lama Drukpa Kunley.
Continue to Punakha Dzong, arguably the most stunning fortress in Bhutan. Located at the confluence of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, it is a masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture.
Optional visit to the nearby Suspension Bridge—the longest in Bhutan.
Dinner and overnight stay in Punakha.
Breakfast at the hotel.
Begin your scenic return drive to Paro (approx. 4–5 hours).
Stop along the way for refreshments and scenic photography.
Lunch at a local café.
Upon arrival in Paro, check into your hotel.
Visit Rinpung Dzong, also known as the Fortress of the Heap of Jewels, offering great photo opportunities and cultural insights.
Enjoy a relaxed evening exploring Paro town or visiting traditional craft shops.
Dinner and overnight stay in Paro.
Enjoy breakfast, then depart for a full-day excursion to Chele La Pass, the highest motorable road in Bhutan at 3,988 meters.
En route, pass through dense pine and rhododendron forests.
At the pass, enjoy panoramic views of Mount Jomolhari and other snowcapped peaks.
Take short walks around the ridges or hang prayer flags for good luck.
Stop for a picnic lunch or return to Paro for a warm meal.
On the way back, visit Dzongdrakha Monastery, a set of cliffside temples often referred to as the mini-Tiger’s Nest.
Return to Paro and relax.
Overnight stay in Paro.
After an early breakfast, begin the highlight of your Bhutan journey: a hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest).
The 2–3 hour uphill trek winds through pine forests filled with prayer flags and offers stunning views.
Stop halfway at the cafeteria for tea and snacks.
Reach the monastery and explore its sacred halls and viewpoints. It’s believed that Guru Rinpoche meditated here in the 8th century.
Return downhill and enjoy lunch in Paro.
Visit Kichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in the kingdom.
Return to the hotel, freshen up, and prepare for a Farewell Dinner hosted by your guide and team.
Overnight in Paro.
After breakfast, your guide and driver will drop you at the airport.
Bid farewell to Bhutan with a heart full of memories and blessings.
