BHUTAN TRAVEL ITINERARY
5 Days / 4 Nights Itinerary
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you’ll be welcomed by your guide and driver with a traditional white scarf (khadar), symbolizing purity and happiness.
Start your scenic journey to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital, located 1.5 hours away. En route, pause at Tachogang Lhakhang Bridge, an iron chain bridge built by the legendary Thangtong Gyalpo.
Capture beautiful photos of mountain valleys, rushing rivers, and quaint farmhouses.
Arrive in Thimphu and check into your hotel. Take a rest or enjoy a gentle walk through the city center to get your first taste of Bhutanese culture.
In the evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner featuring traditional Bhutanese cuisine served with local hospitality. Depending on availability, enjoy a short cultural performance with music and folk dances.
Overnight in Thimphu.
Start the day with breakfast at your hotel.
Begin your guided sightseeing tour with a visit to the Memorial Chorten, built in memory of the Third King of Bhutan.
Visit Buddha Dordenma, a 51-meter statue of Buddha that overlooks the Thimphu valley and provides spectacular panoramic views.
Stop at the Royal Textile Academy to explore Bhutan’s rich weaving traditions and local arts.
Continue to the Takin Preserve, home to Bhutan’s national animal — the takin, a unique-looking creature with the head of a goat and body of a cow.
Enjoy a traditional lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, begin your journey to Punakha, crossing over Dochula Pass (3,100m). On clear days, the pass offers awe-inspiring views of the snow-capped Himalayas. Pause to walk around the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens.
En route, take a short detour to visit Chimi Lhakhang, the Fertility Temple, dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kunley, the Divine Madman.
Arrive in Punakha and check in to your riverside hotel.
Enjoy a peaceful evening walk along the Pho Chhu River or relax at your accommodation.

Visit Punakha Dzong, one of the most beautiful fortresses in Bhutan. It is strategically located at the confluence of two rivers and showcases exemplary Bhutanese architecture.
Take a short walk to the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, offering splendid views of the river, village life, and terraced paddy fields.
Begin your drive back to Paro. Enjoy scenic views, with stops for tea or photos.
En route, enjoy lunch at a cozy roadside café or picnic-style lunch arranged by your guide.
Upon arrival in Paro, check-in at your hotel and relax.
If time allows, take a gentle stroll around Paro town to explore traditional shops, craft centers, and local eateries.

Begin your day early with breakfast at the hotel.
Drive to the base of Taktsang Monastery, famously known as the Tiger’s Nest.
Embark on a guided hike through pine forests adorned with fluttering prayer flags. Reach the halfway viewpoint cafeteria for tea and a stunning panoramic view.
Continue the trek to reach the cliffside monastery, perched 900 meters above the valley floor. Taktsang is one of Bhutan’s most sacred pilgrimage sites and is associated with Guru Rinpoche.
After descending, enjoy a hearty lunch at a local restaurant in Paro.
In the afternoon, visit Kichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most spiritual temples in Bhutan, built in the 7th century.
Explore Paro Ta Dzong (National Museum) for a fascinating insight into Bhutanese history, weapons, artifacts, and natural heritage.
Return to your hotel, freshen up, and prepare for a special Farewell Dinner.
