Overnight in Thimphu.
Visit the Memorial Chorten, built in honor of the Third King.

Overnight in Thimphu.
After breakfast, drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan.

Visit Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Temple of Fertility.
Continue to Punakha and visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of two rivers.

Begin a scenic drive to Phobjikha Valley, a glacial valley and winter home to the endangered black-necked cranes.
Visit Gangtey Monastery, one of the most important Nyingma institutions in Bhutan.

Drive eastward to Bumthang, the spiritual heartland of Bhutan.
